DPLL All- Star Selection
Selection to an All-Star team is indeed an honor and a privilege since you are a representative of the Dr. Phillips Little League. All-Star players, managers and coaches should be those who demonstrate good sportsmanship, character, and the ability to play or coach. All- Stars this year will be selected by a vote of the players, managers and coaches for the 10/11/12 (12yr old) team and the managers and player agent will select players for all other teams.
For 10/11/12 only: The first 10 spots on the 10/11/12 team will go to the top 10 vote getters. The manager of this All-Star team will choose the remaining players. The manager will choose these 2 or 3 players from the next 5 players who received the highest number of votes. Voting for Majors will be held April 28th. Voting arrangements will be made with teams to ensure all players have an opportunity to vote.
Any 11 yr old player that opts to be added to the ballot for the 10/11/12 team must play for the 10/11/12 team if selected in the top 10 players receiving votes. If an 11 yr old on the ballot is not in the top 10 players receiving votes, they would be eligible for the 9/10/11 (11yr old) team.
The 9/10/11 (11yr old), 9/10 (10yr old), and 9 TOC, 13/14, 15/16 all star managers are selected by the board and the manager, representative managers in that age group, and player agent will select those teams.
Players, coaches, and managers can only vote for players in their eligible divisions/age groups. The DPLL Board retains all rights and responsibilities to populate these teams in the event of unforeseen circumstances including but not limited to “popularity contests” or chosen players not available for tournament play.
Players selected as All-Stars are committing to a 3 to 4 week (possibly longer) intensive baseball schedule. The rough timeframe depends upon advancement to the State level and beyond. Players are expected to be at every practice and game during the All-Star season. Please have parents initial here ___________that they understand the time requirements of an All-Stars player (see dates on following page). A player who misses practices/games during the season for vacation, travel ball, etc. can be removed from the team and an alternate selected. The DPLL Board shall approve ALL manager choices, coach selections and has final approval on every All-Stars team roster.
